Selbri
Privacy Policy
Effective date: 11 September 2026 · Blue Butterfly Labs, Heraklion, Greece · Windows desktop application
This policy explains what Selbri does with information. It describes the software as it ships today, including Microsoft Store (MSIX) builds and website/itch.io installer builds.
The Microsoft Store listing may appear under the publisher name Theon. Theon and Blue Butterfly Labs are the same organization for this product.
1. In short
Selbri runs on your PC. We do not run a Selbri cloud that stores your Timelines, chats, files, or passwords.
- Your content stays on the machine (and, if you choose, other computers on a network you control).
- We do not require a Selbri online account, ads, analytics SDKs, or crash telemetry that phones home to us.
- Optional cloud AI (for example OpenRouter) receives prompts and related turn data only if you save a key and use those models.
- Microsoft may process Store purchase, license, and diagnostic data under Microsoft’s privacy statement. That is separate from Selbri.
If you never enable cloud models, never browse the web through an agent, and never email us, Blue Butterfly Labs typically never receives the data you create in the app.
2. Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to the Selbri Windows app, however you obtained it (Microsoft Store, our website, or itch.io).
It does not apply to:
- OpenRouter, model providers behind OpenRouter, Ollama, or any website an agent visits
- Microsoft Store account activity
- Your employer’s or team’s own rules if they install Selbri for you
If your organization runs Selbri, that organization decides who has accounts on that install and how long data is kept. We do not administer your instance.
3. Who is responsible for the data
On your computer: You (or your organization) control the Selbri install. You decide who logs in, which models to use, and when to delete data. We are not the “cloud host” of that copy.
When you contact us: If you email support or send us a file, Blue Butterfly Labs is responsible for that correspondence. We use it only to reply and to improve or support the product, and we keep it no longer than we need for that purpose.
When you use a third party: OpenRouter, Microsoft, and websites you (or an agent) visit are responsible for data they receive, under their own policies.
4. What Selbri stores on the device
Selbri keeps a private local PostgreSQL database and files under a Selbri home folder.
| Build | Typical data location |
|---|---|
| Microsoft Store / sideload MSIX | %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Theon.Selbri_4n841q2g6cq1t\LocalState\Selbri |
| Website / itch.io installer (Inno) | %PROGRAMDATA%\Selbri |
You can override the folder with the SELBRI_HOME environment variable.
Depending on use, that home folder and database may contain:
| Kind of data | Examples |
|---|---|
| Sign-in | Local usernames; password hashes (not plaintext passwords); session and runner tokens |
| Work product | Timelines (Context), items, Skills, tools, agent settings |
| Conversations | Messages, tool traces, steer/talk history |
| Files | Uploads and files agents create (artifacts) |
| Settings | Model choices, CLI and browser options (settings.json) |
| Optional secrets | OpenRouter API key, protected with Windows DPAPI when available |
| Runtime | Postgres data directory, logs, optional Chrome profile for agent browsing, export zip files you create |
Export install: An administrator can export an archive that may include org data, artifacts, settings, and the OpenRouter key in plaintext inside the zip. We never receive that archive unless you send it. Treat it like a backup of secrets.
In-app Report: Reporting inappropriate agent output writes a line to a local log (logs/content-reports.jsonl) and opens your email client to send the report to Blue Butterfly Labs (info@theon.health). We only receive what you actually send.
5. What we do not collect through the app
Through Selbri itself, Blue Butterfly Labs does not:
- Create a Selbri cloud account for you
- Sync Timelines, History, or files to our servers
- Sell your information
- Show third-party ads in the app
- Embed advertising or product-analytics trackers
- Remotely access your PC
We only see what you choose to tell us (email, attachments) or what a storefront shows a publisher (for example that someone acquired the app).
6. When anything leaves the PC
Selbri is meant for this machine (or a trusted LAN). Outbound use is optional and feature-gated.
Local by default
- The Selbri Server listens on 127.0.0.1 by default (port 7740).
- Ollama, if you install it, is called on the same host.
- Runner, Worker, and browser-host talk to your Selbri Server.
OpenRouter (optional)
If you save an OpenRouter API key and run an agent model whose id starts with openrouter:, Workers send chat/completion requests—prompts, conversation context, and tool payloads needed for that turn—to OpenRouter (https://openrouter.ai/). OpenRouter and any upstream model provider handle that content under their terms and privacy policies. We do not operate OpenRouter.
Selbri may also fetch OpenRouter’s public models list so it can size context windows for cloud models.
Agent browser (optional)
If you enable “Use my Chrome” / CDP, Selbri may start or attach to a local Chromium-based profile under the Selbri home folder. Sites the agent opens receive whatever a normal browser would send (cookies, credentials you type, page content). Those sites are not Selbri and are not us.
Agent CLI (optional)
If enabled, agents may run shell commands in the Selbri workspace. That stays on the host unless the command itself uses the network.
Store, website, and updates
Downloading or updating via Microsoft, itch.io, or our site uses that distributor’s network. The running app does not call Blue Butterfly Labs for license checks or usage telemetry.
7. Accounts
First launch creates a local admin on that install. More users can be added there. Passwords are stored as hashes. There is no Selbri-wide login or identity provider. People with admin rights on that install control access.
8. Children
Selbri is for workplace and adult use. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). Do not use it to store children’s personal information.
9. How long data is kept
Data stays until you delete it, wipe the database, or uninstall in a way that removes the Selbri home folder.
- MSIX / Store: Uninstalling the app may leave LocalState until Windows or you remove the package data.
- Inno installer: Uninstall can keep or delete
%PROGRAMDATA%\Selbri, depending on the option you choose. - Removing an OpenRouter key in Settings deletes it from the local protected store. It does not erase prompts already sent to OpenRouter.
- Export zip files last as long as you keep those files.
Correspondence you send us is kept only as long as needed to handle the request and our records.
10. Your choices and rights
You can:
- Use Ollama-only agents and never save an OpenRouter key
- Turn off agent browser and CLI
- Limit who is an admin
- Export, back up, or delete the Selbri home folder
- Uninstall the app and remove leftover data folders listed in section 4
Because we do not host your install, access, correction, and erasure of in-app data are done on the device (or by your admin). If we hold an email you sent, you can ask us to access or delete that correspondence.
If EU or UK data-protection law applies to a copy we actually hold (support mail), you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, data portability where it applies, and to complain to a supervisory authority (in Greece, the Hellenic DPA). Those rights do not require us to operate your local database for you.
11. Security
We design the app so material can stay on machines you control: local database and files, DPAPI protection for the OpenRouter key when Windows provides it, and localhost by default for the Server.
No setup is perfectly secure. You are responsible for who can sit at the PC, Windows accounts, backups, export archives, and keys you paste into Settings.
12. Cookies and similar technologies
The desktop app is not a website and does not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics cookies. If an agent uses a browser, that browser may store cookies for sites it visits—under those sites’ rules, not ours.
Our company website (bluebutterflylabs.com) is a separate property; any cookies there are described by that site’s own notices, not by Selbri’s on-device behavior.
13. International transfers
Selbri processes install data where the PC (or your LAN) is. If you enable OpenRouter or visit third-party sites, those providers may process data in other countries under their policies.
14. Changes
If Selbri’s behavior changes in a way that affects this policy (for example optional cloud sync or telemetry), we will update this page and the effective date. Keep using that version of the app only if you accept the policy that ships with it.
