Theon

Theon replaces the forms in a study with a conversation. Participants describe how they are doing in their own words, when something happens, instead of filling in a questionnaire on a schedule. Theon turns each conversation into FHIR records, and every record can be traced back to what the participant said.

Who it is for

Pharma companies and CROs running studies that rely on what participants report: symptoms, side effects, adherence, what happens between visits.

How it works

  1. Capture

Participants talk to Theon on their phone, in their language. Theon asks follow-up questions when something is unclear or incomplete.

  2. Structure

The conversation is converted into FHIR records: observations, medications, events, each with the time it happened. The data can be exported in standard formats.

  3. Analyse

CausalMind runs on the structured data and estimates which factors caused an outcome and which only correlated with it. It combines causal discovery and causal inference in one pipeline.

What a form misses

A participant's dose is increased on Monday. On Thursday evening she has palpitations while climbing stairs. On Sunday the weekly questionnaire asks whether she had any cardiac symptoms this week, and she ticks yes.

The record now says: week 3, cardiac symptom, yes. It does not say that three days passed between the change and the symptom, that it happened in the evening, on stairs, after a skipped lunch. Without those details there is no way to tell whether the dose caused the palpitations.

Where it stands
